The recovery time and process vary for different treatment options. After sclerotherapy, patients are instructed to walk regularly
and wear compression stockings for a few weeks to improve vein and skin healing. There may be mild bruising, swelling, tingling,
or cramping for 7-14 days.
Microphlebectomy involves a similar recovery process. Patients usually feel mild symptoms for 1-2 weeks. They can return to normal activities within days but are advised to avoid straining or heavy lifting for 2 weeks. However, this treatment may involve more complex recovery after extensive removal of varicose veins.
Endovenous laser therapy and radiofrequency ablation typically cause less bruising and swelling than microphlebectomy. Patients can walk immediately after these procedures and resume non-strenuous daily activities within 1-2 days. However, physically demanding tasks are usually restricted for some time. Mild pain, inflammation, and bruising may occur along the treated vein, which generally fades within several days.
